Each of these multi-piece hat block projects have been a unique learning experience for me.
The Steam Punk Top Hat, where after trying to reinvent the wheel as to how the pieces articulated, decided on using the dowel method. I also had to use some dimensional pieces of cedar, instead of salvaged wood to ensure a tight fit.
In collaboration with Vancouver Milliner William S. Walker and Tom Nichols, a local wood turner, we created a 7 piece wood replica of his latest design.
And because my sweetie, Brigitte has such a small head and none of my current block will fit her, I've made a beret puzzle block that will fit her. It still needs a bit of work.
